Resources for Existing Trainees/Interns

We hope you are looking forward to or are enjoying your training or internship experience in the United States. The following resources should help you with various aspects of your stay.

Program Handbook

This handbook contains useful information about the J-1 program, and what you can expect from your experience as a trainee or intern in the United States. Email us to request this handbook. Request Handbook

Pre-Arrival Acknowledgment

Prior to your arrival in the US, you need to review the materials sent to you in your welcome packet and indicate that you understand the J-1 program by completing this form and faxing it to us at 1-212-757-4062. Download Now (pdf)

Insurance Information

Global Current (through our parent company, AIESEC United States) offers AIG health insurance as part of our basic program in order to ensure that both participants and dependents have health coverage that meets the requirements set forth by the Department of State. Download our health insurance brochure for more information. Download Now (pdf)

Tax Information

You are required to pay Federal Income Tax, State Income Tax, and possibly City Income Tax on the stipend you receive from your host company. Often these taxes are automatically deducted from each check you receive. Each year, by April 15th, you are required to file a tax form with the IRS. We recommend using the TaxBack service for this. See your Welcome Packet or consult with a tax professional for more details. Visit TaxBack (website)

Program Validation Form

WITHIN 10 DAYS of your arrival in the US, you must complete this form and send it to us via fax to 1-212-757-4062 or email it to us. If you do not, you risk early termination of your program. DO NOT FORGET TO DO THIS. Download Now (pdf)

Required Evaluations

Shortly after your program begins, and again before it ends, you are required to submit an evaluation of your traineeship or internship. This is required by the Department of State and failing to complete the evaluations may jeopardize your program. You can download the evaluations and fax your completed evaluations to 1-212-757-4062. Download Now (zip with Word docs). Your supervisor is also required to complete a set of evaluations. You can download those here.
